Freezing Your Credit?

In light of the publicity surrounding the latest data breach where virtually every American has had some critical information stolen, many people are considering freezing their credit. This is not terribly difficult, and there are a number of YouTube videos available that detail the steps.

The link shown here will take you to one of them: How to Freeze Your Credit

While the author affirms that it's safe, you will not be faulted for not trusting it. You've been advised, correctly, not to open links that you don't trust 100%. So, the alternate is to open YouTube and search for "How to freeze my credit." You'll find many available videos there, some offering free advice, some looking to make money to assist you in the process.

Freezing your credit is not difficult, but remember, once frozen, no one can access your information. This means that if you're applying for a loan, a new credit card, or refinancing your mortgage, you'll have to "un-freeze" your credit. If you neglect to do that, as the author once did, the process you thought would be quick, won't be.

Finally, the author is not qualified to advise on what you should do in dealing with your personal finances. The purpose of this message is solely to point you to where you might find some useful information. If you're not sure what's best for you, you should seek professional advice.
